Wondering and pondering: in the past 20-something years we used #Skype to cheaply phone call far-away relatives and to #phone #call closer relatives when _we_ were far away.

Now that Skype will close, are there #alternatives to do the same (as in call land phones from the Internet)?
And no, both relatives have neither Internet nor a modern smartphone.

Cam someone help?

@MoskitoHero Ruby isn’t purely object-oriented, it’s also functional. Doing this approach properly, with immutable data structures (and often returning a Result), is my preference. When you use mutation with this approach it can definitely get messy quickly though, I agree.

`#call` is special in Ruby, since it’s the API for lambdas/Procs and it’s the gateway to Functional Ruby. A bunch of great examples here: alchemists.io/articles/ruby_fu

Diskriminierung - Gemeinsam - Erforschen

Diskriminierung ist sowohl im Alltag als auch in der Forschung oft schwer zu fassen. Sie ist versteckt oder wird mit unterschiedlichen Begründungen gerechtfertigt. Durch die Einbeziehung von Citizen Scientists zielt unser Projekt darauf ab, Wissen über Diskriminierung zu erweitern.

Wir organisieren Interpretations-Workshops, an denen Personen teilnehmen, die keine sozialwissenschaftliche Ausbildung haben. Stattdessen bringen sie unterschiedliche Erfahrungen und Perspektiven ein. Dadurch soll das Verständnis und Wissen zum Thema Diskriminierung erweitert werden. Das gilt sowohl für das Projektteam als auch die Teilnehmenden.

Die Teilnehmenden können sich in verschiedenen Phasen des Forschungsprozesses beteiligen. Sie haben auch die Möglichkeit, an der Veröffentlichung und/oder Präsentation von Ergebnissen mitzuwirken.

Researching Discrimination with Citizen Science

Discrimination is often difficult to grasp, both in everyday life and in research. It is hidden or justified with different justifications. By involving citizen scientists, we aim to broaden knowledge about discrimination.

We organise interpretation workshops in which people without social science backgrounds take part. Instead, they bring in different experiences and perspectives. The aim is to expand the understanding and knowledge on the subject of discrimination. This applies to both the project team and the participants.

The participants can take part in various phases of the research process. Also, they have the opportunity to contribute to the publication and/or presentation of results.
