I'm concerned that I may get stuck with "Animoi" as a generalized term for animals uplifted by humans despite my intent of using it as a placeholder. The term was created by humans to refer to all modified animals and their progeny regardless of their actual species. It was more convenient and seemed appropriate when all of the species worked together to gain recognition as equals rather than servitors. My not liking it could get worked into the lore as the individual species look for their own recognition and identities.

While anthropomorphic animals are common among the uplifts, I thought it would be interesting to also have some who only have intelligence modifications. This led to the creation of Dorgah.

**Captain Dorgah**
*Animoi, Gliri - Sentient Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus sapiens)*

**Occupation:** Captain of the salvage ship Carota

**Appearance:** A large white, lop-eared rabbit with black splotches on his face and hindquarters. A collar around his neck secures a Vox Unit which
allows him to communicate verbally in several languages.

**Habits/Mannerisms:** Dorgah takes every advantage to remind others to he owns the Carota and pays their salaries. He is distrustful of everyone as a result of believing everyone is out for themselves, like he is. He spies on the crew whenever possible and attempts to cheat them any chance he gets. When confronted, Dorgah takes an aggressive stance but will quickly fall back to escaping or bargaining his way out of trouble.

**Motivations:** Dorgah’s increased intelligence hasn’t overridden all of his instincts but it did open him to the importance of wealth. The combination of his greed combined with his natural drives leaves him to base his decisions on two factors self-preservation and monetary gain

**Background:** A descendant from the Animoi colony on Phobos, Dorgah left his home seeking wealth and fame as many young people do. He refused to accept the limitations of his anatomy and instead used his knowledge of computer systems and shrewd business sense to make his way among the bipedal species. Every assignment was the same, the bipeds always mistook him for a mascot or a personal pet until he spoke up. He would be left out of missions and key assignments for various reasons related to his species and appearance. This resulted in Dorgah becoming bitter and and taking great pleasure in using any advantage he had over others.
In time, Dorgah was able to procure a Hercules class cargo ship which he named the Carota. He had the ship outfitted with verbal command systems that allowed him complete control over the electronic systems along with updating the security to prevent anyone from thinking he was an easy target. Dorgah has since earned a begrudged respect among the other captains as he branched out into salvage, a lucrative business in the border territories.
