This album undeservedly gets a lot of hate, even by Peter Hook himself. Sometimes the greatest creations, the unique art pieces, come forth from strife, confusion, and a lot of drugs: this album ticks all boxes. At times it's brooding, sweaty, industrial, Pineapple Face, then the sky clears up: Big Bang is bright, hopeful, and jangly. Kiss The Chrome is the only letdown on this awkward masterpiece.

#NowListening: #NewOrder - Low-Life

I am still reading Substance by #PeterHook and I have arrived at the third New Order album and sadly my least favourite of the 80s albums. While the individual tracks are good, it frustrates me that the album versions of the singles just aren't that good compared to the full versions. I don't think this album aged well at all either. Face Up is shambolic and horrid though I love it dearly.

I am currently reading the book Substance by #PeterHook in which he chronicles the history of the band in great detail. I am currently reading the track by track commentary on this album and it's great to read along while the album plays. Trouble is, the text on each song is just a tad too short so I am left looking at the ceiling after every track, waiting for the next one to come on.
