Our excursion in Geiranger in 2013 - our first ever cruise excursion in Norway - was a hike to a waterfall. We'd guessed that a tour marked as "strenuous" really meant "strenuous for cruise passengers" and that we'd be okay given our relative young age. Oh, boy were we wrong. It was hard work and we trailed behind the older but far fitter passengers on the hike. One other couple gave up, turned around, and went back to the ship, but we persevered and were rewarded with stunning views and a lovely experience walking behind the waterfall up the mountain.

I bought a cheap graduated filter for my camera and used it on this trip, thinking it would make sense with bright skies and dark rock to photograph. Good idea in theory. Graduated filters work fine with level territory but not so well with lots of jagged peaks to cope with. The results were not ideal and the cheap filter gave all the blues a purple tone that required a lot of processing to get to something good enough to post.
