85% of the people at Rikers have not been convicted of a crime, they are awaiting trial because they cannot afford bail. So now, poor people that are presumed innocent, who’ve already been sent to a notoriously inhumane pretrial detention center as a way of weaponizing the cash bail system so they feel forced to take a plea to charges the state hasn’t proved, will now also have to fear deportation. This is just the beginning of what Eric Adams plans to do for Trump in exchange for dismissing those charges that can be refiled at any moment. The man is a despicable puppet.
