After recovering from medical stuff, I now (this friday) made the call to make sure I was active on the list to get a guide dog.
I was told I was, and was actually, more or less, always mentioned when they had a new dog, to see if I would be a good fit or not.
Finally things seems to be aligned, I have my ducks in a row, and I'm ready for this!!!

(yay combination of being a city dweller and a first time guide dog handler, made it more difficult to find the perfect match, they said).

I hope I get the call soon.
I mean lol, the sleep problems because of nervousness has already started.

Feel free to respond with any thoughts and/or comments.

Anyone who is blind, or who has worked with the blind, knows how expensive our technology can be. This couldn't be more true with relation to braille displays. Even the cheapest costs at least $799, and it's already behind the newest in that line, at $899. This is the Orbit Reader 20 and 20+. Now, a student in India wants to change that by creating a display that is truly affordable (under $50)! Please pass this on, so that we can give him greater recognition within the blind community. Even if it costs a bit more than he initially suspected it would, there is no excuse for the $2,000 to $5,000 average price of such technology when cheaper alternatives can be designed! He is determined to bring this to market, so let's help him do it and show our appreciation for his hard work on this life-changing project!

Today on #twitch we look at the #accessibility of a newly released game, going by the rather interesting name of #southOfMidnight. I know very little about this #game other than it supposedly having some #blind specific #accessibility features, so let's see how I as a fully blind #gamer do in playing this narrative bit of folkloristic action. See you in an hour over at twitch.tv/zersiax #smallStreamer #goingLive #selfPromo

TwitchZersiax - TwitchFully blind coder, hacker, gamer and overall oddball. I pioneer accessibility efforts in various spaces. Come watch me do so! :)

About to head into #CTEBVI for the first time to help present the Tangible Art & Design Adventures curriculum with CATT-NW! Will lead folks through tactile drawing and art techniques, and explain how #blind kids and adults can go from that up to building their own digital and tactile graphics with SVG coding! Check out the curriculum: tada.wssb.wa.gov

Oh and don't get me started on just how difficult it is to use the mac #Terminal, now you wouldn't use this to actually #code with, but sometimes its useful to know how to use... if you could easily navigate the damned thing, but no, Apple just has to make it the most terrible experience ever. I don't know how sighted people do it, because as a #blind person, I hate every second of it, and I really only use it to play muds via #tintin++ if I have no other options.

I no longer use Skype, but while browsing through all the apps on my computer, I saw it, I saw this forgotten app, and it brought back some nice memories, and nice conversations I had there, with nice people whom I still talk to, this app helped me to stay in touch with the ones I truly cared about, when I was far away from them, old good times :-) now there are better tools for communication, and I guess if I ever want to use Microsoft messaging app I will have to use Teams, and Teams is something I hate, so I think I will stick to Google Chat and Meet, better sound quality, and the interface is not so irritating. But who knows, maybe my curiosity will be strong enough to try Teams again, connected to my private account, but if the interface is so horrible as it was before, then I don’t feel encouraged to do this. #Technology #Computers #Communication #Blind.

For those who use bard and receive the machine and cartrages. How long have you found it takes to actually get the stuff through the post? I was told that they'd start mailing me stuff today, how long should I expect to get the stuff? #Blind

Holy crap y'all, Quickemu is amazing! I got Windows 10, (English United States cause English International only allowed me to choose English UK for some reason), installed it with Narrator, downloaded and installed NVDA, and it barely feels like I'm running a VM at all. I kinda wonder if it'd work well at all on the BTSpeak. I could imagine it passing through Braille access on a future BTBraille.

Anyway, two commands I've figured out so far, Control + Alt + G gives control back to Linux, and Control + Alt + F puts the VM in fullscreen.

OK, so I’ve just started reading “The family across the street” by Nicole Troop, I know, I know, right now I’m mostly reading thrillers, but it’s because I love them, and I want to read everything on my list one by one :-) and I think this book is interesting, and it’s very well narrated. I will always say that, books are a wonderful relax after work, or after a long day, books are good for everything :-) #Blind #Reading #Audiobook #Books #Thrillers
