The #Maori taught me that the Western #society model is deeply flawed, designed to keep people fighting each other rather than working together as families #Whānau and communities #iwi to care for one another and the environment #TeTaiao we live in.
The Māori cultural approach has much to teach us in how we can survive the #ClimateEmergency and improve our health and society

I was reminded of the Māori approach reading about the #smoking ban the NZ govt is planning to bring in. Sadly, it's designed for Western culture, rather than for the Māori
"... messages targeted toward the majority European population and neglecting Māori values. "Whānau, or family, is the atomic unit for Māori," Reti says, "and so if you want to shift behavior, you don't shift it with the individual, you shift it with the family."

When looking to the massive challenges & upheavals facing us in the #ClimateEmergency we will need to think about how we support families and communities alongside national & international policies to come together.
If we work together as brothers & sisters, we will be stronger.
The #rich may keep trying to steal our wealth, but if we stand together, they are weak, & cannot take these strong bonds of #community & #nature
