Sadly, Americans have had the option to join a union and fight this stupidity for a very long time, but haven't taken it.

many unions, or most, are deeply flawed and often the leadership are wholly engaged in support of the aims of the ruling class, but it remains vital that working class people join unions because the one real power we have is our labour and the ability to withdraw it.
The more people who are in unions the more power we all have and the more radical we can make our unions, and from there our representatives in politics
I'd much rather be beholden to the Rail unions than the fucking Tories.
Yesterday’s book was Make Bosses Pay by Eve Livingston.
This is a great resource, full of excellent ideas and examples – but it wasn’t quite what I was expecting.

It turns out the rest of us *can* join a union.
It looks like #UniteTheUnion is the most obvious choice. But I'm new to this.
So… Those of you more knowledgeable than I… Should I join Unite, i.e. the same union my employer recognises? Is there one that’s best for financial services workers? Is there a benefit to picking one over another?
The more I read, the more convinced I am that the only way forward is by working together. Governments and employers keep trying to push change from the top down. We combat that by working together to drive change from the bottom up. One key player in that will be unions.
I've always thought that calls to join a union didn't include me. My employer recognises and works with a union – but only at the lower levels. Those of us classed as ‘management’ are exempt.
But…
This is beautiful.
For those who don’t want to click through to Insta, this is the UK Parliament questioning Amazon execs relating to recent strikes by workers in Coventry.
One small quote…
MP: Why have your team gone on strike so much?
Exec (grinning like an idiot): They’re demonstrating their right to support the trade union that they’re a member of.
One more quote…
MP: It’s like pulling teeth

My letter in the Galway City Tribune regarding the recent report on University of Galway's toxic work environment.
"The truth of the matter really comes down to institutions wanting to protect their reputation over protecting their workers and students. University of Galway may state they have a 'zero tolerance policy' in place but a policy means nothing if there is no real action."
@EUCommission Time to put the feet up, girlos.
