Unpopular opinion: There is not the One #Messenger To Rule Them All. It depends on individual #chat requirements.

Extremely easy to onboard and use, but only for Android and iOS: #Quicksy or #Prav.

For Joan & John Average: #Conversations, #Dino, or #Monal.

For team chat: #Gajim or #Prose.

For people with higher security necessities: #Conversations or #Dino with self-hosted server and/or use over #TOR and/or multiple (burner) accounts.

Tbc. Of course, there are many other valid options.

Martedì 22 aprile 2025 alle 21:30, Leandro Noferini presenterà gli #OnionServices di #Tor, all'Officina Informatica del #GOLEM.
community.torproject.org/onion

Running a Tor Relay to help privacy and anonymity? Check out the latest version:

"The Happy Families design is a new feature in Tor 0.4.9.2-alpha that will (eventually) provide a simpler way to configure relay families, and will also save a lot of traffic when clients are fetching network directory information.

We plan to remove MyFamily and legacy TAP onion keys at the same time. When we do, we estimate that the resulting network's microdescriptors will be something around 10% of their current size.

(This might not be a permanent savings, unfortunately: when we transition to postquantum cryptography, we might have to make microdescriptors bigger again. But at least this change will free the room to do so.)"

I'm annoyed by all of the port scans just putting SSH at 2222 is no longer enough to get rid of them.

I'm considering to install #i2p or #Tor and making them a simple node within these networks just so that I can bind SSH towards them and not the public interface.

Also that would simplify running a MTA and getting the mails onto my NAS from the public MX servers too.

I could use a VPN, but why if I can just use i2p and/or tor instead :p

Email is an open standard! Yet corporate USA has stole it from us. Let's all reclaim our #Email

We need to run our own email servers again and make email a community thing!

Enable running a server from home! Add email servers on .alt, .i2p, & .onion! Support people unable to rent a VPS or get a global domain name! Not everyone has access to a credit card or bank account.

Let's make email open & social again!

Support #OpenPGP!!
