More whimsical than my standard fare.

Another drawing from back in October (Inktober 2024).

Heavy-footed, dire-handed, uncompromising, ungovernable.

An ink drawing I’d a scarecrow whose face is an exaggerated, sinister cartoon mask, rotated to look straight up. It is propped up on a stick in a bucket, and tufts of straw are visible around the face and wrists and elbows. Both of its arms are raised in the air, and there is a black bird perched on each wrist, where the hand would be.

This one is very Ernest Shackleton, or Captain Robert Walton. I like to imagine that through the gap in the glacier is an unspoiled paradise. Or Santa’s toy factory, maybe.

Life in the margins, keeping quiet and then making a ruckus … it may be time for piracy to come back into fashion.
