I use a NeoCharge smart switch so my EVSE and my water heater share a 30A circuit. NeoCharge released a firmware intended to fix some things, such as connection failures, which seemed common.
But they broke the breaker part apparently.
It looks like when the secondary side goes active, the primary side also seems to go into an active state whether something is plugged in or not, and it shuts off the secondary.
Which means the switch is no longer usable for switching. So I’ll have to swap plugs when I need to charge my car. Thankfully this isn’t a frequent thing and it has a fine amount of charge for now.
Sigh.
I need to just hire an electrician to put in a dedicate circuit. Apparently one just got freed up with my new heat pump install. Maybe.
