Pig asks Rat, "Do you ever get the feeling that something really bad is about to happen and we're all gonna have to escape?" Rat replies, "Yeah, I do. But we should ask Wise Ass about that. He's usually pretty calm and clearheaded." So, Pig makes his way to the Wise Ass on the Hill but when he gets to the summit of the hill, all that's there is a sign that reads, "FLED". Pig returns to Rat and tells him, "I've got some bad news."

Pig goes to see the Wise Ass on the Hill. He asks, "Oh, great Wise Ass. Help me to understand humanity." The Wise Ass hands Pig a piece of paper, while saying, "Of course, my son... all people can be classified into one of four quadrants, which look like this..."
Group A: Smart and humble
Group B: Smart and arrogant
Group C: Dumb and humble
Group D: Dumb and arrogant
He continues, "We love group A, tolerate group B and pity group C." Pig says, "That all sounds good. But what about this group D? The dumb and arrogant?" Pig returns to Rat and says, "I know who's running our lives."

Rat has been on the phone for ages, Pig asks him, "Who are you talking to, Rat?" Rat replies, "Bombast Cable... I've been on hold for tow hours." Eventually, someone answers, "Bombast Cable. How can I help you?" Rat says, "Finally... Yeah... I want to cancel cable." The company agent asks, "May I know why, sir?" Rat says, "Because I pay $200 a month for channels I don't watch!" The agent says, "I see." Rat continues, getting angry, "And I found a cable package with live TV for just $70. That's a monthly saving of $130. So stick it in your ear!" The agent hasn't finished, "Well now, sir, you also pay $100 a month for internet. Should we cancel that as well?" Rat says, "Well, no. You're the only company in my area that offers it. And without it, I can't get the streaming package." The agen asks, "The one that saves you $130 a month?" Rat hesitates, "Right... I... I... You're no gonna charge me $130 a month for internet, aren't you?" The agent gleefully says, "You bet your sweet @**, we are! Who's your daddy now, #$*@*??" Rat turns to Pig and says, "Cable companies have too much power."

Rat meets Pig who seems to have an angel floating by him. He asks, "What the heck is that?" Pig says, "That's my late Uncle George. He's the uncle who used to take me to baseball games when I was a kid and buy me a soda and a hot dog and sometimes even a T-shirt. So in your honour, Uncle George, I recently took my nephew to a baseball game! I got him a soda for $10, a hot dog for $16 and a decent seat for $300!" His uncle seems to have a heart attack while floating and suddenly appears to drop down to the ground, dead. Pig says, "He died all over again." Pig asks his uncle, "Did I mention the $80 T-shirt?"

Pig is preparing for the worst, "Oh, my goodness... what happened?" Rat tells him, "I've forgotten our Netflix password." Goat interjects, "Do you think maybe we're all to fragile these days?" Pig is distraught, "Couldn't you have given a trigger warning?"

Goat goes up to Rat and asks, "What ere you reading, Rat?" Rat replies, "A biography of Thomas Jefferson. He's gotta be one of the most brilliant and accomplished Americans to ever live. I mean, he was a founding father, and architect, a statesman, the creator of the University of Virginia, and the primary author of the Declaration of Independence. And he wrote what is arguably the most important line in American history, `We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'..." He gets a megaphone out, "So how could the guy who wrote that think it was okay to own other humans?!" This knocks Goat off his feet and he says, "Probably didn't need the megaphone." Rat concludes, "Brought to you by `The Committee on American History That Makes No #*@%~ Sense.'"

Rat is at the cafe, talking to Goat, and he is angry, "So I get to Starbucks this morning and they give me a hot latte when I clearly said `cold.' Then their wifi kicks out right as I'm trying to post stuff on social media." An old man sitting next to Rat interrupts, "I was born in 1925 in a house without running water or electricity. Then my family lost what little we had n the Great Depression, after which I was drafted and had to fight the nazis on the beaches of Normandy." Rat tells him, "Please stop putting my life in perspective." The man replies, "I'm sorry. Tell me again about the latte."

A poorly drawn pencil sketch, with stick figure follows. A man in a silly hat walks past some onlookers saying, "I'm Stephan Pastis! Look how great I am! Look how great I am! I'm Stephan Pastis! Look how great I am! Look how great I am" After he has left the frame, one onlooker says to the other, "Who the @#*% is Stephand Pastis?" In the final frame, Rat says, "I love Reed already." Rat walks over to Pig and asks him, "What are you doing, Pig?" "Teaching babies to burn trash." Pig tells him. "What are you talking about?" Rat says. Pig replies, "It helps clean up all the litter around town and it doesn't end up in landfills. For instance, I found these concert flyers for a Doors tribute band scattered all over town, so baby here is gonna burn them." Rat is confused, "None of this makes any sense whatsoever." Pig is adamant, "Yes it does, here watch the process in action. C'mon baby, light my flyer." Rat is next seen holding a baseball bat and threatening the cartoonist, "This is the end... your only friend, the end."

Rat and Pig are on their phones. Goat comes up to them and says, "I just read the greatest book about social media called `The Chaos Machine'!" "What's so great about it?" asks Pig. Goat continues, "It explains how these companies' algorithms are desigined to promote conflict so all the divisive, opinionated, antagonistic stuff floats right to the top. And the results are devastating, not just in this country but around the world. It makes us angry and divided and has even led to mob violence. And the companies know all this stuff and profit from it. So I'm gonna do my part and spend a lot less time scrolling around social media on my phone" The other tow aren't listening, Rat asks Pig, "Is he still talking?" "Wouldn't know." replies Pig. Goat resignedly leaves, "I see I had a big effect." Rat isn't taking any notice and says, "Haha. Look at these guys punching each other." Pig isn't looking at it, rather at his own phone, "Grrr... I hate people who don't think like me!"

The receptionist says, "To sen you promotional emails from now until the end of time that you can't unsubscribe from even if you try a dozen times." Rat turns to Pig, "It's nice when they admit it."
