On my short drive to work there are two houses.

One of them is for sale and one of them is for rent. They've had signs in front of them for more than a month now.

Before #Helene these would have vanished before they could put the signs in the yard.

These are the real signs that #Asheville has lost some of its shine. I'm kind of 50/50 on this. We were thriving #tourist destination but the cost of everything especially #housing was (is) insane. Maybe just maybe it will come down to just nuts.

A mulch fire right by I40 east of #Asheville. This is one of the large grinding sites for #Helene debris. They had large electronic sign’s approaching this saying authorities are aware. It was pretty weird seeing it burn this close to the highway.

Maybe for people your sister knows in the area:

From BuncombeGov:
New resources in Swannanoa.
A new Buncombe County Community Engagement Market in Swannanoa will take place on the first Mondays of the month to help address food insecurity following Hurricane Helene from 4:30-6 p.m. (or until supplies run out).

The first market is on Monday, April 7. It will be in the gravel parking lot on the east side of the Asheville Christian Academy Campus at 74 Riverwood Rd.

The BCHHS Mobile Team will be on site for free immunizations.

The #Wildfires at the NC/SC border in the western part of #NorthCarolina mostly continue unabated today. The 2 in the Green River Gorge region (very steep hillsides, doubtless littered with #Helene tree debris) are still 0% contained, and now combined at almost 6,000 acres burned.

Temps today will be in the 60'sF, with yet another red flag warning and gusts up to 30mph like yesterday, with low dew points.

No rain likely until the weekend, and not that high a chance even then. Smoke today will travel with the winds again, so we may all see it. Be safe, folks.

So true. Our local bank, Manna, was completely destroyed in the #Asheville floods from #Helene, yet still managed to get food out to the people who need it. Their donations have gone way up, but they have to rebuild their operation from scratch, even while still providing more food, with less support.

A very good article on the topic from #AVLWatchdog
