Most of the films I know are from the 80s so would appreciate more recent recommendations.
Faves include Les Flics, Subway, Diva, Un Coeur En Hiver, Haut Tension, 37C 2 Au Matin aka Betty Blue, most Jean Luc Besson... Both style-over-substance and more serious stuff.

Intriguing 80s horror-comedy Sundown: the Vampire in Retreat, classic French flick Bande a Part (Anna Karina, swoon), & Emilia Torrini's Miss Flowers (rare I buy CD instead of vinyl, but it was a good price).
