Maybe I'm paranoid or stingy, but all the #BigBlueButton hosting services I see seem so sketchy or overpriced. And I immediately remove from consideration any service that touts "AI." I haven't looked into it very thoroughly, but from what I've seen, self-hosting seems less complicated than, say, self-hosting Nextcloud. Since I'm the only one who would initiate a meeting, and I usually only do so once or twice a week, for small groups (usually fewer than 12), the server wouldn't have to be running uninterrupted, 24/7. Does anyone have any experience self-hosting BigBlueButton?
As #Microsoft prepares to phase out #Skype in May, it might be a good idea to try out #FOSS alternatives such as #Mumble, #Jitsi and @bigbluebutton for voice/video conferencing. Specifically for Mumble, I have my own server at mumble://gianmarco.gg open 24/7!
Do you pay Geeglo/Mixroshoft/Shroom oodles of personal data and gobs of fiat & taxpayer money, but find that your meetings are a pain to start or are still limited to sixty minutes? Aside from the fact that it's probably a good idea to try to keep your meetings short and productive (15 or 25 min is my preference) - consider using #JitsiMeet or #BigBlueButton for a more ethical, flexible, sustainable conference for you and your attendees.
Thank you to both projects for hosting my day's virtual discussions without a hitch! #opensource #appreciation

There's also #BigBlueButton to try.
Here is an instance run by nice people, albeit hosted in Germany: https://www.senfcall.de/en/
