Happy !

Death of a Unicorn was worse than expected, and Ash was a mediocre scrip but AWESOME visuals, so I'll definitely be buying it on disc.

Mononoke in 4K IMAX was INCREDIBLE. The only downside was I thought the dub was poor. I'm pretty sure rewatching it with subs will bump it up to 5 stars.

The Maltese Falcon was amazing! Sharp, clever, twisty, funny, charming. I 100% understand its influence.

@auzzy
Oh I disagree. The English dubs on Ghibli films are incredible. Billy Crudup as Ashitaka, Claire Danes as San, Minnie Driver as Lady Eboshi, Keith David as Okkoto. You got voice acting royalty like Tara Strong and John DiMaggio. You got Billy Bob Thornton. Honestly, the dub is better than the sub imho.

@jacklaridian *shrugs* To me, they all sounded very disinterested, and rarely like they were engaged in the same conversation. There was an overall lack of emotion in their voices, save for the most overtly emotional lines. It was super distracting.

I almost never watch movies with dubs, even animated ones, so I can't comment on other Ghibli. Although I've heard they're supposed to be really good, hence my disappointment.

@auzzy Unicorn worse than you expected! 😂 wow. Well, maybe we'll skip the theater on that. Wasn't fully sold.

@jake4480 Unfortunately, I probably won't have time to get up a review this weekend, where I'll go into more (spoiler-free) detail. But if you've found my taste to be in the ballpark of your own, I'd say you can safely skip this one.

I'd suggest Eephus, Mickey 17, The Monkey, or even The Penguin Lessons instead, if any of those are playing near you.

@auzzy oh nice! Wifey and I will watch Unicorn probably when it goes streaming, and Monkey is on my list - the others I will check out!
