Emeritus Prof Christopher May

Liz Kendall has told WASPI women who lost out (disproportionally) through changes to state pensions (due to their age & the shift in eligibility) that after a long campaign & much lobbying, they'll not getting any compensation.

This, despite the Parliamentary & Health Service Ombudsman concluding compensation of between £1,000 & £2,950 for every person affected was fair (just).

The Q.; where does this leave Ombudsmen's reports if Govt.'s feel able to ignore the conclusions?

h/t FT

@ChrisMayLA6 I hope the WASPI women take some judicial review.

NuNuLabour cannot claim to believe in the rule of law (ombudsman are basically quasilaw) when they don't follow stuff that applies to them.

@ChrisMayLA6

So, if I steal £60K from Liz Kendall, and give a couple of thousand back, she'll say that's fair enough?

What is the point of bothering to pay for an ombudsman with no power at all?

This government is just the Tories continued by other means. Where is their vision of a better future? Frankly, the same Tory nonsense with a red rose printed over it just will not do.

@Walrus

That would seem to be one conclusion; not sure Liz Kendall would take that line if it was her money though 😉
