Aha, Anglea Rayner say the Right to Buy may(!) be removed from newly built social housing.
May... may? This needs to be move No.1 in the battle to revive & expand social housing in this country.... it may not be a sufficient move in that project, but it is definitely a necessary move.
(But of course, the Tory press will lambast Angela Rayner who bought her own house through RtB.... she just needs to brazen it out & get on with ending RtB)

In my view
Getting rid of the discount on right to buy is the first step.
In principle, I have no problem with tenants having the right to buy out their landlords at fair market price.
In the social sector, such income should be ring-fenced to build more social properties.
Yes, I think that's a fair point; as long as the sale price was more than the build total build cost; but this would then still allow a rolling lag of housing being taken out of social housing stock, and then the delay while the money was recycled into construction - unless bridging was available.... but I'd rather see it ended, so that social housing could be built without having to deal with some dwellings being removed on an ongoing basis from the overall social housing.
