Timeline cleanse.

It was an exceptionally good day to see sea stars on the central California coast .

Rocks covered with mussels and other crusty stuff. In the crevices you can see an orange sea star on the left and two BIG purple sea stars overlapping each other on the right. Below at the interface to the sand are a bunch of sea anemones that are closed so they look a lot like brown doughnuts, but if you look closely, you can see the blue centers hiding inside.

This is my favorite picture of the day! At the bottom is the sand and there's some shallow water, and then about halfway up the picture there's a bright orange sea star with five arms clinging to a rock that is covered with anemones, but the rock then juts out toward the camera in an overhang. On the right, there's a gap between the rock and another rock, and you can see the reflection of the bright blue sky in the water.

They're so cool and cute! I always think of like "beach motif" decor first when I think of starfish, which is not that impressive or endearing. But when I see people post the real guys on the rocks they look so chunky and cite I can't help but love them 😍⭐
