Pat grew peanuts in our garden from just supermarket peanuts! I didn’t think it would work.

It took months and a lot of space in the bed for very few nuts — we’d definitely starve if we were doing this for real food needs — but they are fully formed peanuts. Plants are amazing.

@grammargirl This might sound stpuid, but I constantly forget that peanuts come from plants...

@grammargirl Nice. What area are you in that peanuts grow?

@grammargirl This is pretty amazing. I think it's rare to get viable peanuts from the grocery store.

I think of peanuts as something that is productive in warmer climates. I wonder if I'm mistaken on this. I'm also not really sure at all about how they do in terms of space, because this honestly looks to be a decent crop for what you're showing.

@grammargirl Despite the fact that they're called "earth nuts" in Danish, it had never occurred to me that peanuts grow underground. They actually look a bit like potatoes ... so weird and wondrous 🤯

@grammargirl A squirrel "planted" a peanut from the bird feeder in my flower bed & it took me weeks to figure out what that yellow flower was.
