With a flick of his in-glitch-man wrist, the lieutenant's silver spoon-become-magnifying-glass has shape-shifted once again, this time into a silver-framed illustration he then holds with both hands. Two of his fingers point at the central figure of the image: The large man in the dog-pulled sleigh racing across the ice from Day 122. Only in this version of the witnessed scene, the sledge is being chased by an enormous, I mean stupendously huge, jaw-gaping wyrm filling nearly the entire sky. The dogs' front paws—like a 3D hologram—break free of the image, just as they seemed to likewise defy the laws of physics by being out there in that ephemeral ice wasteland in the first place.
