I have lost my for the LAST TIME. Behold my clever solution! The most difficult part was figuring out a way to affix the lucet cord to the pencil without interrupting the magnetic contact and thus charging capability. Rubber band was much too thick. A single layer of tightly-wrapped sewing thread is just thin enough.

Very lucky my iPad case has a little gap of wasted space next to the pencil-holding trough. Drilled hole, poked cord through, knotted.

An iPad in its case. At the lower edge of the case is a molded trough in which an Apple Pencil fits. There’s a little extra space near the corner. An Apple Pencil is sitting in its trough, and we see about two feet of white cotton lucet cord attached to the butt-end of the pencil with tightly-wrapped dark green sewing thread. The other end of the cord feeds through a little hole into the corner gap of the case and is knotted at the end.
