This week I've been mainly reading, No.48:
Josephine Johnson, #PulitzerPrize winning, Now in November (1934/2022) is a melancholy account of a year in dust bowl America in the 19390s, encompassing death, suicide, crop failure & community tensions. Its a a quietly powerful tale of desperation & tenacity, which is both heartbreaking & all too human. Deserves to be read alongside other 'dust bowl classics', as the despair is always tempered with hope of some sort.
