MathiasJe n'avais encore jamais rien vu du cinéma de Paolo Sorrentino. En découvrant la bande-annonce de Parthenope, j'étais agacé par cette impression de too-much, de trop d'effets semblant abuser sur le côté tire-larmes (les ralentis, la musique, les phrases de la critique presse encensant la grande beauté de cette œuvre, etc...) mais au milieu de tout ça, se dégageait le charme de la protagoniste, incarnée ici par Celeste Dalla Porta qui je vous l'avoue, m'a attiré jusqu'au cinéma, comme envoûté par le chant d'une sirène, pour voir ce long-métrage. Ma comparaison à une sirène n'est pas anodine car dans la mythologie grecque, Parthenope en est une. Ça n'est pas n'importe laquelle puisque c'est en fait son nom qui a donné celui de la ville de Naples. À travers la vie de cette personnage qui nous est présentée ici, nous pouvons effectivement trouver une allégorie de tout ce qui fait cette ville Italienne, sa fougue, sa révolte, sa beauté mais aussi sa superficialité, son côté tape-à-l'œil qu'il ne faut pas trop égratigner de peur de ne rien y trouver derrière. Parthenope est tout ça et son contraire en même temps. Comme la vie finalement, non? Tout ce qui nous entoure, comme nous-mêmes d'ailleurs, ne sommes nous pas remplis de contradictions? En tout cas je dois admettre que Sorrentino sait filmer. Il a un regard d'artiste généreux dont tous les plans sont des tableaux qui me donnent envie de citer Oscar Wilde, "la beauté est dans l'oeil de celui qui regarde".
