Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has criticised how the Office for Budget Responsibility watchdog has analysed the impact of his benefit changes.

Appearing at a parliamentary committee, he said the OBR, which monitors public spending plans, had assumed that "not a single person" would change their behaviour as a result of the government's proposals.

Grade I listed All Saints' Church, a late 18th-century place of worship can be seen, located on Lower Pilgrim Street.
Interestingly, it is the only elliptical church building in England.

This Saturday as part of the Everyday Algorithms exhibition: Reimagine your relationship with machines in this workshop to produce queer love letters using Bash scripting with @siusoon and Mara Karagianni. 💌

📅 Saturday 5 April
⏰ 12pm — 3pm
📍The NewBridge Project, #Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 1AL

This workshop aims to challenge the gender norms in free software development. We will begin with a cultural introduction to Unix and #Bash, exploring how they interact with the operating system. Bash, a command line interface and scripting language created in 1989 for UNIX Systems, is useful for system administration and automation. 💾

During the workshop, you will use the terminal, either in pairs, in groups, or individually, to write and create a #queer love letter in Bash. These letters will explore various forms of desire, intimacy, and struggle, allowing us to reimagine what our relationship with the machines we use might look like. ❤️‍🔥

The £3.4m Prudhoe Street #Metro junction replacement project in #Newcastle has won the Outstanding Project of the Year (under £20m) at the Spotlight Rail Awards, marking its second award. The project, completed in just two weekends, was carried out by #Nexus and delivery partner Smarttrax Rail. The works replaced Metro's busiest junction, ensuring minimal disruption with two weekend closures. The complex project involved pumping wet concrete down to the tunnel floor, future-proofing Metro infrastructure for years. The project previously won Project of the Year at the Global Light Rail Awards. The renewal completes the track replacement from #Jesmond to #Gateshead.
