One of topics which is often misunderstood about #Quran is that it encourages war with infidels and killing them in the general case. This misunderstanding is not only among non-Muslims but also among some Muslims.
Quran commands the Muslims to kill and fight the infidels several times.
For instance in 2:191 it says
"And kill them wherever you come upon them. And drive them out out of the places which they drove you out".
If we stop here, it means Quran commands that Muslims should kill an infidel as soon as they find one. However if we continue reading, in the same verse it says to avoid fighting in the Sacred Mosque. Then in the next verse it says
"And if they cease, God is indeed God is all forgiving and merciful.".
Then it continues:
"And fight against them till there is no persecution. And if they stop, there is no hostility except against the aggressors."
So Quran says to fight them and kill the infidels as long as they are fighting Muslims. And if they stop fighting, it commands the Muslims to stop as there is no war against them.
Furthermore, in Surah 60, it starts with commands which prohibit friendship and being kind to the infidels. It talks about this matter till verse 60:8 which says:
"God does not forbid you from being kind and fair to those who didn't fight you and didn't drive you out of your home. And God loves those who are fair. Indeed God only forbids you about those who fight you regarding your faith and drive you out of your homes. Or those who supported others doing so. And whoever takes them as friends, they are indeed the wrongdoers."
