The white building on the left is the facade of the third oldest bar in town. It first opened in and it’s still there. For over 15 years, a sign behind the windows read: “Not for sale or rent.”
And yet, dozens, maybe even hundreds of people dropped a note in the mailbox, hoping to take over the legendary Amsterdam café Brandon. In vain…
The old proprietors, the Brandon family, lived above the establishment, and as long as they were alive, it would remain closed.
The café is located at Keizersgracht (corner of Leliegracht), on the edge of the Jordaan.
