Very early in my research career, I read an article in a highly respected broadsheet, that happened to discuss my very specific area of expertise. It contained elemental errors.
I still remember this as a teaching moment, to be skeptical of reporting about scientific discoveries in areas I'm not an expert in.
Now, with #AI, I feel much the same: it's superficially very impressive, but if I ask ChatGPT about sufficiently complex topics that I actually understand deeply, it's just #garbage.
