Reflect on the 5th Sunday of Lent Year C. Embrace God's promise of new beginnings and let go of past mistakes. Like in Isaiah, trust in God's path through the wilderness. Strive for a deeper relationship with Christ, pressing on in faith as Paul guides us in Philippians. In John’s Gospel, learn from Jesus' mercy toward the adulterous woman. Forgive others and seek personal change in our own attitudes. #Lent #FaithJourney #Forgiveness #NewBeginnings https://young-catholics.com/3521/5th-sunday-of-lent-year-c/

But public opinion, because of the tremendous urge to conformity in gregarious animals, is less tolerant than any system of law. When human beings are governed by “thou shalt not,” the individual can practice a certain amount of eccentricity: when they are supposedly governed by “love” or “reason,” he is under continuous pressure to make him behave and think in exactly the same way as everyone else.

The parable of the prodigal son teaches us about love, forgiveness, and our relationship with God. It warns of the dangers of following our own desires and shows that obedience without love can lead to resentment. Trust in God's wisdom and know He welcomes us back with open arms. #Faith #Forgiveness #Love #Parable #LessonPlans https://young-catholics.com/14663/lesson-plan-on-the-prodigal-son/
Reflecting on the 4th Sunday of Lent Year C, we are reminded of God's boundless mercy and the joy of new beginnings. The parable of the Prodigal Son highlights forgiveness and reconciliation. The Israelites' first Passover in Canaan signifies God's faithfulness. In Christ, we become new creations, leaving our old selves behind. There is an excellent interview here with Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela about #forgiveness and the hard work of being human.
*How blessed is the person whose rebellion is forgiven!*whose sin is covered!*How blessed is the person whose guilt the Lord does not charge against him!*in whose spirit there is no deceit!

Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and there will be gifts for you: a full measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap; because the standard you use will be the standard used for you.

Its a lot of harm. Its not good. The body part of you will support you longer, better, if you shut down the monkey brain for sleep, necessary play, goofy laughter.
Not shut down, but "permission to ignore" - for lunch, catch, sleep.
You have permission to not solve the shit storm alone, and permission to sleep uncaring like a dog, play catch.
Guilt for inaction drives stress, permission to ignore the screech is a gift.

Maria Popova gave us this poem. It's ours. It's yours.
FORGIVENESS
May the tide
never tire of its tender toil
how over and over
it forgives the Moon
the daily exile
and returns to turn
mountains into sand
as if to say,
you too can have
this homecoming
you too possess
this elemental power
of turning
the stone in the heart
into golden dust.

Today’s sermon has me thinking differently about my earlier reflection on #forgiveness & #reconciliation Is looking for a demonstration of change another way of saying that I will only forgive & reconcile only with people “like” me? If so, that means I am judging who does & does not deserve forgiveness. Which is not what today’s Gospel calls on me to do. Neither is it following the example of Jesus who looked down from the cross & prayed God to forgive those who put him there. Forgiving everyone, whether they have changed or not, is not easy. It is, however, what we are called to do.
