Can (voluntary) #carboncredits play a role in moves to combat the #clinatecrisis?
Well, not really - just one more scam that is unravelling when it meets reality;
Carbon credits now look more like #greenwashing than a plausible #environmental strategy!
Last week I posted Rowan Atkinson's piece in which he cast doubt on the current viability fo #electriccars & some of you replied with opposing analyses suggesting EVs can & should be more widely used & are already helping battle the #clinatecrisis
Now the Guardian itself has put up an extensive debunking of Atkinson's anti- #electricvehicles arguments, which I am also happy to post - not least as much will be familiar to you from last weeks' comments in the timeline
Meanwhile in #vietnam a new record is set;
Saturday saw temperatures reach 44.1C in its northern Thanh Hoa province; this breaks the previous world record set 4 years ago.
We may have move from talking about #globalwarming to #clinatecrisis, but the current #heatwave in #Asia and the ongoing #European multi-year drought continue to show that #climatechange having produced ever more eruptive weather, is pushing up peak temperatures as well the overall average.

So much for 'beyond petroleum', BPs vacuous adverts of the last few years - looks like their #investments in #fossilfuel will be double those in #greenenergy in 2023... am I surprised - of course not - #BigEnergy is a key problem that must be resolved if we are serious about tackling the #clinatecrisis
