I love to read and every once in a while, I find a book that I cannot put down, no matter what is happening around me. For those of you who have ever been lucky enough to encounter this transcendent state of being, this drawing is for you! :-) Imagine curled up in your favorite comfy chair, with a hot cup of tea and plate of delicious cookies nearby. Here's the first endpaper I've painted for a special edition by LitJoy of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander! The book is going to be full of beautiful art, with Annie Stegg and @kristinagehrmann, among others, also contributing.

Painting this iconic scene of the novel was great! It was a bit challenging, since all those characters are standing so far apart from one another, but all in all I'm happy with the sense of motion I managed to create. Close-ups in the comments!

In the foreground, a couple, half-hidden among tree branches, is looking at a scene that's unfolding in the centre of a stone circle: women wearing white bedsheets are dancing around in circles, led by one of them, who's standing still in the middle. They're bathed in the golden glow of sunrise, the whole scene has a magical atmosphere.

I worked on my Rollover series documents today, and while hunting up names in stories I came across a line I love that I forgot I'd written. So I made a picture for it, because that's what I do, and now I'm sharing it, because I like to share.
