Walter Street Burying Ground
> Tucked into the southwestern slope of Peters Hill, the Walter Street Burying Ground is a collection of several dozen headstones dating from the 1700s and 1800s.
Chilly walk in the Arnold Arboretum this afternoon - but good to get some exercise!
This striking #Pecan #tree (#Carya_illinoinensis ) at #ArnoldArboretum towers over its neighbors at 97’+ (29.5 m). The seed was sourced by Robert Ridgway who documented the incredibly diverse, often gargantuan, and now effectively obliterated trees of southern Illinois and Indiana. The Boston tree is the scion of a near-mythic forest, perhaps the very 150’ (46 m) individual photographed with Robert.
