Three years ago, we found a tiny apricot tree sprouted from a kernel in the compost heap.
Planted it and cared for it. it now has its first fruit, about five little apricots!

Ume ('prunus mume') are commonly known as 'plum' in English, but in reality they are related to both the plum and apricot families, so it's probably easier to call them by their Japanese name.
Apricot trees, 'anzu' (杏) in Japanese, are a far rarer sight.
This pretty pink plum blossom said hello as we walked by it this morning. With no worries, it’s looking perfect, serene in its simplicity. It will be fine.
