#allegory

Beautiful #dream last night. I was lost, floating in a calm ocean, no land in sight. A dolphin - one of my spirit animals - came to save me.

It floated underneath, nudging me onto my stomach, pointing me to the right, hovering its fin beneath my hands. I wrapped my hands around the fin - slippery, hard to hold.

That is all. It felt like I was eventually rescued. I woke up, told myself: "Remember this, it's important." Interpretations welcome! 🙏💕

Giambattista Tiepolo
An Allegory with Venus and Time
1754-58
Oil on canvas, 292 x 190 cm
National Gallery, London

One of my favourite pictures from London's National Gallery. I confess I often hold this picture in my mind's eye as a form of escapism -- an escape from strip malls, bloated SUVs, megachurches with fundamentalist PowerPoints punctuated by bad rock and extempore prayer, cargo pants,
presidential make up, the Hobby Lobby...

"The topicality of #Plato's #Allegory of the #Cave in relation to the #media #echo #chamber" by Peter Müller

Mr. Mueller's "Philosophical morsel from 08.04.2022" with a current reference of "Plato's Allegory of the Cave" fits from my point of view perfectly to a comment, where I also try Plato's Allegory of the Cave and to my essay "#Digital #Tribalism".

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: "𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗗𝗼𝗴" 𝗯𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗸𝗼𝘃 -

While not as fully realized as some of his other works, this novella still packs some creative and absurd punches at the early Soviet Union (and the rest of us) by offering a dog the physical attributes of humans and then poses the political question of who we are.
