iamBullivant<p>On 15 April 1945 the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp was liberated. Some 50,000 prisoners including around 3,500 children died in the camp of hunger, disease or physical violence. Those who dies included Jews, Czechs, Poles, anti-Nazi Christians, homosexuals, Roma and Sinti. the roamer<p>So good to see liberal America standing up to the Trumpian threat today. A strange thing happened to me as I followed the topical posts.</p><p>Each time I saw the <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/HandsOff" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HandsOff</span></a> hashtag, what my brain read instead was <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Hausdorff" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hausdorff</span></a>, for Felix Hausdorff, the eminent mathematician.</p><p>To my shame, I knew nothing about Felix Hausdorff the man. To me as a former Berliner and an emigree to England, Hausdorff sounded like an East Prussian landed-gentry name, I expected a Junker. Wrong. Today I learnt that Felix Hausdorff was in fact Jewish. He, his wife and his sister in law escaped the death camps by suicide, in 1942. (His daughter Lenore survived.) Muriel de Relikto<p>Exposition "Courage – Volonté – Vie : Les rescapés de la Shoah"</p><p>Cette série de 35 portraits, réalisés par l’artiste et peintre Alain Husson-Dumoutier, rend hommage aux survivants des camps de concentration nazis.</p><p>L'artiste, de l’UNESCO pour la paix, a consacré sept années à rencontrer et interroger 35 survivants de la Shoah.
