Drew Cook: Gold Machine<p>There&#39;s a new feature at IFDB that lets you enter your play time for a game. Pretty neat!</p><p>If you finished my game Repeat the Ending, how long did it take you? I&#39;m guessing there&#39;s a pretty big spread because of all of the optional paratext. Would love to get some data on this (and consider adding times to some of your faves to help potential players out).</p><p><a href="https://ifdb.org/viewgame?id=eueqjtej7bvnfp5a" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">ifdb.org/viewgame?id=eueqjtej7</span><span class="invisible">bvnfp5a</span></a></p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/interactivefiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>interactivefiction</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/ifdb" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ifdb</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/repeattheending" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>repeattheending</span></a></p>
Drew Cook: Gold Machine<p>this is a nice weekly zine.</p><p>it&#39;s definitely worth checking out (even if you choose to skip the part with me in it)!</p><p><a href="https://if-whats-new.itch.io/whats-new-in-if-2024-zines/devlog/783324/whats-new-in-if-issue-18" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">if-whats-new.itch.io/whats-new</span><span class="invisible">-in-if-2024-zines/devlog/783324/whats-new-in-if-issue-18</span></a></p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/interactivefiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>interactivefiction</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/topexpert" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>topexpert</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/goldmachine" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>goldmachine</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/repeattheending" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>repeattheending</span></a></p>
Drew Cook: Gold Machine<p>Moving on: the first of two posts intended to close the book on Repeat the Ending. Spoils everything, the whole game.</p><p><a href="https://topexpert.blog/2023/11/16/repeating-the-ending-one-last-time/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">topexpert.blog/2023/11/16/repe</span><span class="invisible">ating-the-ending-one-last-time/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/interactivefiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>interactivefiction</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/inform7" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>inform7</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/repeattheending" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>repeattheending</span></a></p>
Drew Cook: Gold Machine<p>Release 4 of Repeat the Ending is now live. It is primarily a feature update. I&#39;ve extensively revised the hints regarding the game&#39;s 33 points.</p><p>Perhaps more significantly, this is the first release with story mode, an accessibility and tutorial feature. If you&#39;ve never played RTE, this is a good time to try. I intend for this to be the final, definitive version.</p><p><a href="https://kamin3ko.itch.io/repeat-the-ending" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">kamin3ko.itch.io/repeat-the-en</span><span class="invisible">ding</span></a></p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/interactivefiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>interactivefiction</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/inform7" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>inform7</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/parser" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>parser</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/repeattheending" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>repeattheending</span></a></p>
Drew Cook: Gold Machine<p>Hi all. I&#39;ve gotten some positive feedback on my accessible &quot;story mode&quot; for Repeat the Ending, but I could use maybe two more testers. If you dislike playing parser games but would consider &quot;reading&quot; one, get in touch. Details:</p><p><a href="https://intfiction.org/t/repeat-the-ending-story-mode/65475" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">intfiction.org/t/repeat-the-en</span><span class="invisible">ding-story-mode/65475</span></a></p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/interactivefiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>interactivefiction</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/repeattheending" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>repeattheending</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/parser" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>parser</span></a></p>
Drew Cook: Gold Machine<p>I&#39;m looking for readers to try out a new accessibility mode for Repeat the Ending. It automatically queues the next move in a walkthrough. The mode can be paused for player exploration at any time. Details here:</p><p><a href="https://intfiction.org/t/repeat-the-ending-story-mode/65475/1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">intfiction.org/t/repeat-the-en</span><span class="invisible">ding-story-mode/65475/1</span></a></p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/interactivefiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>interactivefiction</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/inform" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>inform</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/repeattheending" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>repeattheending</span></a></p>
Drew Cook: Gold Machine<p>I&#39;ve had a couple of small improvements suggested for Repeat the Ending, and I&#39;d like to revamp the hints related to scoring. I&#39;ll do another (final?) release to incorporate these changes.</p><p>Please let me know if you have had problems with it or would just like to suggest something.</p><p>No, &quot;I didn&#39;t like it&quot; doesn&#39;t count as a suggestion! :P</p><p><a href="https://ifdb.org/viewgame?id=eueqjtej7bvnfp5a" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">ifdb.org/viewgame?id=eueqjtej7</span><span class="invisible">bvnfp5a</span></a></p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/InteractiveFiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>InteractiveFiction</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/RepeatTheEnding" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>RepeatTheEnding</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/Inform7" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Inform7</span></a></p>
Drew Cook: Gold Machine<p>Been banging away at my second Inform 7 project. The opening crawl looks good, but I have been agonizing over the initial sequence of play for actual days.</p><p>This is supposed to be a simple cave game™!</p><p>See you at IFComp 2024 (probably)</p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/CaveGame" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>CaveGame</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/InteractiveFiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>InteractiveFiction</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/Inform7" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Inform7</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/RepeatTheEnding" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>RepeatTheEnding</span></a></p>
Drew Cook: Gold Machine<p>I&#39;ve written a post about learning Inform 7, among other things. I share my messy code in hopes of encouraging non-programmers to try Inform 7 if it interests them.</p><p><a href="https://golmac.org/about-the-time-i-wrote-an-inform-7-game/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">golmac.org/about-the-time-i-wr</span><span class="invisible">ote-an-inform-7-game/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/Inform7" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Inform7</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/RepeatTheEnding" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>RepeatTheEnding</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/SpringThing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SpringThing</span></a></p>
Drew Cook: Gold Machine<p>&quot;Repeat the Ending&quot; is the &quot;critical edition&quot; of a forgotten 1996 Inform 5 game about loss, mental illness, and the second law of thermodynamics. It won a &quot;best in show&quot; ribbon in the 2023 Spring Thing festival.</p><p>A post-festival release of the game, along with several digital feelies, is now available. Everything is linked at IFDB, which also has a &quot;play online&quot; feature.</p><p>Thanks for your interest!</p><p><a href="https://ifdb.org/viewgame?id=eueqjtej7bvnfp5a" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">ifdb.org/viewgame?id=eueqjtej7</span><span class="invisible">bvnfp5a</span></a></p><p><a href="https://zirk.us/tags/InteractiveFiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>InteractiveFiction</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/Parser" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Parser</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/Inform7" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Inform7</span></a> <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/repeattheending" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>repeattheending</span></a></p>
