Feeling fortunate to have been able to spend time with NYC documentary photographer Máximo Colón and partner Kathe during their brief exhibition at Marquette’s Raynor Library for a Caribbean studies conference here. Such extraordinarily kind, humane, and expressive people. http://www.maximorafaelcolon.com/ #MaximoColon #milwaukee #documentaryPhotography #MarquetteU
Satisfying visually and tactile-wise, bookplates are also catnip for those like me who relish puzzling out who might have read the book in hand (or listened to the old record on turntable).
A new digital exhibit of bookplates from Marquette University's library has just launched. Explore the growing collection here: https://specialcollections.raynordslab.org/om/s/plates/page/welcome

The Entangled Air exhibition of work by Tomás Saraceno currently at Marquette U’s Haggerty Museum is modest but moving—visualizing “the extent to which humans, animals and plants relate to the air.”
The most powerful element is an utterly simple installation: a small pitch-black room pierced by a blazing beam of light. Al one can see is the dust gliding in the light’s path, looking like a beautiful murmuration of sparks.
