The shot has a lot of contrast and nice texture on the water from being backlit / sidelit by the sun. It was still bright enough to shoot with 1/1000s in order to capture the spray and hectic movements. Surfing is a quick sport. Chose a larger aperture because I wanted detail on the face of the wave and the spray. Auto ISO to keep my time and aperture, Image stabiliser on, AF on servo mode and Zone AF.<br>

I was hesitant to come here because the other locations in Santa Monica and Huntington Beach are frequented by douchebags and trustafarians (having traumatic flashbacks as I type😭), but the Long Beach location has a completely different vibe. Found this place to be airy, bright, and unpretentious. Could have also been the friend I was with, who is always warm and delightful to be around☺️.<br>
