I tried installing skylight.social/ (short form video app that uses the AT Protocol) on my “degoogled” GrapheneOS phone just to see what it's like, and it immediately demanded that I install Google Play services in order to use it

It's possible to sandbox them on Graphene OS and I do have a user account with them for my banking app, but I'm really not interested in using a social app that demands them

Was für ne scheiße.
Ich hab nicht mal root rechte drauf.

Muss jetzt wohl doch den Tan generator bestellen oder ich Zahl 9 ct pro SMS und Transaktion.
Ich müsste mal überlegen ab wie viel Transaktionen sich das lohnt.

Die GLS Bank App ist da z.B. auch aufgeführt.

Reading up on #grapheneos while I settle on which pixel phone to get, I came across their PDF viewer and Camera apps in play store. They are terrific and work with regular android. All the functions are right there, easy to use. No junk in the way. No tentacles trying to grab you when you use them. Neat. #degoogle

I was always surprised why there is not a way to sync #calendars and #contacts in #android without an app.
Although there are FOSS apps that work well, I'd expect that such a basic feature would be something the OS would do out of the box, specially considering the OS already provides an abstraction for "accounts".
For #degoogled #androidROM it makes even more sense, since most likely users will sync contact and calendar from a "custom" #caldav #carddav service.

Today we're going to talk about something that one of us has considered buying in the past, but opted for a smartphone with /e/OS instead. But since we like the concept and design, let's talk about Punkt 🇨🇭, the "detox" and pro-privacy smartphone 📱.

Do you think we really need all those apps that are installed in our smartphones?

In our world of "app-obesity", Punkt offers a breath of fresh air with a simpler approach to technology.

Petter Neby 🇳🇴, a Norwegian entrepreneur, founded Punkt in 2008, a company that create products that focus on the things we really need without any of the distractions we don't.

Punkt is based in Switzerland 🇨🇭, it had around 50 employees and offers 2 different mobile models:

The 1st is the MC02. It has basic digital tools and focuses on privacy and security - email, calendar, contacts, notes, storage and a built-in VPN. They have an agreement with #Threema, which comes pre-installed. This model has a subscription and costs around CHF 12/month (1st year free).

The 2nd one, the MP02, is a classic #dumbphone. The interface is 100% text-based, with no icons, and it has the most basic functions of a telephone.

#Punkt devices use AphyOS, an OS based on #GrapheneOS developed by Apostrophy AG 🇨🇭 ( apostrophy.ch).

A voi sono comparsi il pulsante e la barra di ricerca di Meta AI su Whatsapp?
Sembra che che ancora non ci sia nemmeno un modo ufficiale per disabilitare queste "feature".

A parità di versione però, l'applicazione che ho installata sul profilo degooglizzato di GrapheneOS è ancora salva.

Questione di tempo?
Oppure non c'è compatibilità con implementazioni alternative di Android e/o dei Play Services? Spero la seconda!
