The short version:</p><p>He is fully on board with selling out the creative industries to US billionaires, has completely bought into the lies about the importance of AI to the UK economy, and thinks that giving control of all communication to Musk and Zuckerberg will make children safer somehow.</p><p>Labour really needs to find some candidates with the ability to think through the consequences of their actions and to listen to their constituents and not lobbyists. </p><p>I am tired of the only candidates for MP who are aligned with my ideals being the ones too useless to actually act towards their own professed goals.</p>
David Chisnall (*Now with 50% more sarcasm!*)<p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/UK" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UK</span></a> folks, please do write to your MP about the impact of the <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/OnlineSafetyAct" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OnlineSafetyAct</span></a> (pushing control over communication away from small communities to US-controlled corporations) and the new AI strategy (killing the UK creative industry to make more money for US corporations). </p><p>Most MPs get fewer than ten letters on any given issue. They extrapolate the importance from the number that they receive. If twenty of you in a constituency write to oppose these things, MPs will see it as an issue that may cost them reelection.</p><p>I wrote to my MP, <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/DanielZeichner" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DanielZeichner</span></a>, a month ago. He hasn't replied, but he usually doesn't give the impression of understanding the issues he's voting on (and consistently votes against his own beliefs as a result). </p><p>Send them citations. Explain the consequences in small words.
