If you don't want to keep bees yourself, find a local bee keeper to remove them and give them a new home. Many bee keepers will probably do it for free, because they get a free queen and swarm of bees. I would, if I lived close enough. People other than bee keepers are likely to poison or smother the bees. This isn't their fault, this is the fault of the designer of that water meter cover. #BeeKeeping #Bees

@ai6yr Apologies for hijacking the replies for my own personal concerns, but...

Speaking of #bees, we just found that there is a budding hive in the concrete lid over our water meter. It's between the sidewalk and the road. We put a sign up to warn about them.

We'll likely call the water people tomorrow., but would you suggest anything else we should do? Thanks!

My bees are producing young which is a good sign that they are thriving! I'm very happy to see several frames of brood in there now. A lot of it capped. There are a lot of uncapped eggs and larvae too. I have a picture of the queen, Bee Arthur, she is circled in blue. 🐝🐝🐝

The solid yellow caps on the 1st picture are brood or bees about to hatch. They have a fair amount of honey and pollen spread around too.

Have a wonderful evening everyone!

I was reading up on the baldurs gate patch notes. They've added a new swarmkeeper class which sounds cool but unfortunately it's tied to being a ranger which I don't want.

I want to be a Knight in heavy armour that has bees. An Apiculture Knight.

Bees bringing in the pollen on Saturday morning. I estimate between 100-120 bees per minute with pollen. That could be over 1.5 grams of pollen per minute or 500 grams in 6 hours. More than a pound of pollen and they work hours than that. That's based on them only carrying 15mg of pollen but I read they can carry 30mg.
