“Flying so high, trying to remember … how many cigarettes did I bring along.”

Jethro Tull release their third album, Benefit ~ April 20, 1970. Ian Anderson said that he considers Benefit a much darker album than Stand Up, owing to the pressures of an extensive U.S. tour and frustration with the music business. FRED KARLIN
Westworld (The Original Sound Track Album)
1986 U.S. Reissue

Another one of my beloved childhood movies, endlessly played on WSBK TV38 in Boston on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in the #80s .

Yule Brenner is incredible in it, and everything about it makes it a perfect movie, including the music. A great score by Fred Karlin.

I’m sure it was probably pretty good, but I’ve never seen a second of the HBO series.

amf.didiermary.fr/gyedu-blay-a

Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, the versatile, irrepressible singer, songwriter, producer and Ghanean “musical- life-force” exploded on the music scene in 1973, with a jazzy Highlife sound he called “Simigwa-Do”. Simigwa-Do – version d’origine (1973) Ambolley taught himself to play the flute as a first instrument in his early years of musical interest dating back to the…

ROY SUNDHOLM
The Chinese Method
1979 Canada pressing

GODDAMMIT do I love this record!
One of the great #powerpop albums of the late #70s , much in the vein of Nick Lowe & Marshall Crenshaw.

EVERY FUCKING SONG is catchy as hell, & I dare you to listen to “Go Zero” and not get it stuck in your head for days.
An impossibly great course in rock songcraft.
According to his Discogs, he was briefly in Spencer Davis Group?
Hard to connect THOSE dots.

DAVID BOWIE
Hunky Dory
1971 Canada pressing

Almost at the end of the week, and I’ve got an hour downtime to recharge. So I’m rolling out some primo Bowie.

Definitely one of my three preferred David albums, and Hunky Dory contains my FAVORITE song of his, “Quicksand”.

This should give me the charge I need to see me through to the end of the day.
