So like, cyborgs are definitely here, but they don’t look like half-robot leather-clad mercenaries, so much as normal people with very long and complex medical histories and a lot of doctor’s appointments
How many basic medical things have this science fictional cybernetic bioengineered quality?
Dialysis, pacemakers, CPAP machines, artificial organs, sensory aids, prosthetics…
We really are becoming ships of Theseus.
@miksimum I got a loop recorder with Bluetooth put in after my stroke two years ago and my cyberpunk existence has been pretty underwhelming.
@glecharles yeah, I bet you can’t even pick up encrypted pirate transmissions from the liminal autonomous zone
@miksimum Not a single one. All I got was more frequent doctor's appointments and medical bills!
@glecharles Yup, I can relate! My cardiomyopathy prompted the cardiologist to implant a monitor/defibrillator “just in case”
now I have an iPhone-size lump under my arm, and every 6 months my doctors use a tablet to do a Bluetooth check of my vitals
So like you, no new signals being intercepted!
