More on the social fallout from the killing of Brian Thompson of CEO UnitedHealthCare.... we may find out in the next few weeks whether this represents a flash in the pan, or the beginning of a major social resistance to the horrors of the US private health care system.
@ChrisMayLA6 I very much doubt Trump of all people will bother to act. He’s as heartless as they come!
@alexproe @ChrisMayLA6 He's been oddly silent. It's a tough one to fold into his schtick. The general public, including his base, hates the profiteers with the force of a thousand suns, but his entire policy platform is based on unleashing corporate from constraints of any kind.
Back in the G.W. Bush years, PM Koizumi proposed to shore up the Japanese pension system with a dedicated lottery. That ghastly joke of an idea wouldn't help, but it'd fit Trump's style like a patent leather glove.
@fgbjr Well, we know Trump’s base are not the brightest bulbs in the room! Trump is profiteer on steroids! @ChrisMayLA6
@alexproe @ChrisMayLA6 Maybe there's an opportunity for medical care investment bundles in the crypto space. I'm pretty sure the idea must have occurred to David Sacks, we'll soon find out if he has the brass balls to put something on the table. Put Mama on the Blockchain.
@ChrisMayLA6 @alexproe There's a risk of being called out for looting the US Treasury by underwriting Bitcoin, so a second scheme with Bitcoin in it might be a worthwhile distraction. I believe it involves "synergy," whatever that is. I don't understand it all but the boys are confident there's money in it.
@ChrisMayLA6 I’m all for civil disobedience to fight injustice but killing people is going a bit far! That said, I hope the Democrats take notice and put “single payer” healthcare back on the agenda. #health #USPol
@ChrisMayLA6 The US health sector is fascinating. It represents the absolute worst aspect of public health care, with the absolute worst aspects of private health care.
Indeed; it is dystopian
@ChrisMayLA6 I remember when I studied in the US and a woman in my class cut her fingers deep enough to require stitches.
She came to the hospital, they performed one stich I think or two, and then she was given a bill of 1700 USD and was sent home.
Fortunately for her, she was leaving (this was at the end of the academic year) so she just threw away the bill and went back to spain. ;)
