An LP a day - for no other reason than I love my records - No.86
[apologies for missing yesterday]
Issac Hayes. Joy
Before Barry White there was Isaac Hayes' gruff voice, albeit at a slower tempo. Hayed perfected long form slow funk, in some senses presaging rap with his spoken intros. This album is one of his best!
Standout track:
Joy - at 15mins the title track is worth the price of the LP alone; a classic Hayes sensuous masterclass in mesmerising funk; soooo groovy!
@ChrisMayLA6 Love the cover art
@ChrisMayLA6 terrific! Thanks for the pointer.
@ChrisMayLA6 Ah yes, the scientologist. Or "Chef from South Park" as most people would know him.
