People see confused about why First Philosophy involves both the study of being qua being (i.e gamma and zeta stuff) and theology. The answer is that the subject matter of first philosophy is: whatever would complete or fulfill our desire to know. Such a science would have to be about first causes and principles (hence theology) but it would also have to be perfectly general and all-encompassing (hence the being qua being stuff).
